SPORT STACKING

We have been Sport Stacking (a.k.a. cup stacking) at Meadowlark since 2001.  Cup stacking promotes hand-eye coordination, ambidexterity, quickness, concentration, and bilateral proficiency. During PE fitness activities are incorporated with cup stacking so that kids are still getting a work out. Cup stacking has grown into a worldwide sport, complete with its own governing body: The World Sport Stacking Association (www.theWSSA.com).  There are regional and world championship tournaments and it is even a sport in the Junior Olympics.  You really have to see it to believe it! Check out this video link to see for yourself!

ARCHERY

We started Archery for 4th and 5th graders in 2016 through the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP).  NASP® is oriented to strictly ‘target archery.  Archery is a lifetime skill and is safe, wholesome, and non-controversial. The program is designed to reach all students whether rural, urban or special needs. Teaching a lifetime skill will give the individual the ability to choose whether to continue target shooting or try other venues.

ROLLER SKATING

We have been roller skating in PE for over 15 years.  2nd-5th graders get to participate in this in-house skating unit during their physical education class.  This is by far one of the students' favorite units! Skating is a “Lifetime Activity” that provides a variety of benefits, which include balance, coordination, motor skills, and a top rated cardio-respiratory workout.  Students will also learn basic skating skills such as starting, stopping, forward skating, backward skating, cornering, and a number of safety tips for being a smart skater.
